Default Boom software update problem

When I download the software upgrade to my laptop and open it, it looks like this, 7 files. Am I suppose to save all 7 files to the thumb drive and plug it in? Because I tried that and it reads it like a MP3 drive on my infotainment system.

Make sure your USB is formated in FAT32, will not work if formated in NTFS.

It is.
I am not sure I need all 7 files or just the top one.

It looks like your computer has mounted the .iso you downloaded as a CDROM. To be more specific, the upgrade was actually downloaded as a .zip file that you (may or may not have knowingly) uncompressed to a .iso file that your computer then mounted as a CDROM. What you see in Explorer are the contents of that .iso/CDROM. You just need to put that .iso file on to a FAT32 formatted USB stick. The Boom head unit will mount the .iso file on the USB stick just like your computer did and take it from there.

That video above is pretty good but misses the move/copy of the .iso file from downloading the .zip onto the FAT32 USB.

You can find all the Boom resources here. Assuming you have the 6.5GT Boom head unit in your '14 here are the installation instructions

I just copy the whole package on to the stick and don’t open. Just plug it in to the bike. Works every time.

FOR CVO's With Keyless / Keyfob Ignition. Whole different process!

Finally figured out why this was not working after tons of attempts. It turns out there is a completely different method to use when you have a keyless ignition with a key fob.
  1. DO NOT manually turn the large center ignition **** to the right as is described in the numerous "You Tube" videos on this topic.
  2. DO NOT turn on the power switch on the brake side handle controls.
  3. .... All you have to do is set the bike to accessory mode by pressing the large flat mode selector button on the top of the clutch side hand controls. The radio will boot up. Make sure the radio is turned on.
  4. NOW plug in your USB drive with the ISO file into your usb port.
  5. There will be a button on the touch screen saying something like "No Playable Media Found" Hit that button.
  6. Next, a screen will appear saying "INSTALL SOFTWARE" with a "YES" and "NO" button at the bottom of the screen. Hit "Yes".
  7. DO NOTHING AT THIS POINT. The software will start to install now. The head unit will automatically powerdown and power back up again.
  8. DONE!
This drove me crazy for a long time....

Just extract the ISO file by unzipping it and saving it to your computer. Then copy the ISO file over to a thumb drive that has been formatted to FAT32.

You just want the ISO file itself in the main root of the thumb drive, and then the head unit will see it for the software upgrade process.
