Was looking at the new Rockford stuff that is being sold by Harley. Im not interested in mounting the HD Rockford amp in a saddle bag and losing space but i am interested in the better HD Rockford speakers vs the one sold by Rockford on their website. Is it possble to use the new HD Rockford fairing speakers along with the older Rockford amp that mounts under the head unit in the fairing? Sorry if that seems a little confusing. This would be for a 2020 RGS

For the money and space needed, I'd opt for better value than RF.
Yea i hear you. I'm honestly not that big into the audio portion of the bike, but def would like something better then what comes stock. I def don t want to spend more then 2k on audio but want the option to do bag lid speakers down the road.

Yes I get it. For the same money or cheaper though, you can get a much better amp that will allow you to expand someday. Speakers, the same way. MUCH better speakers than RF for less money.
For 2k or less you could have a WAY better system than boom or RF could ever think of. Just something to ponder. I'm one for getting the best value for my money.

Short answer: NO
The amps are completely different animals. The new HD/RF Stage I system uses 4 Ohm 2-way speakers & the Stage II system uses 2 Ohm 3-ways, so....
You may be able to cobble a system but for much more than alternate options that will probably sound better?

This is the amp i would like to run because it can be mounted in the fairing rather then taking up space in the saddle back with the new HD/RF amp https://rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/tm400x4ad/
According to the specs on the amp above, it can run 100 Watts x 4 @ 2-Ohm
The new HD/RF stage II speakers are also 2ohm. I just looked up this info after you mentioned it. Just curious to know if it still will all just plug in together.

I've heard a couple installs of the HD/RF Stage II systems. I think they sound good, but they're pricey. I've attached a write up I did on those installs w/pics that may be of some value in your evaluation? I wrote this for inclusion in a newsletter I publish monthly but haven't published it yet.
Will the new Rockford fairing speakers work with the 2019 boom amp
No. Boom amp is set up to use 2 channels for each speaker position, 4 channels just for fairing speakers.. What this means is the cross-over network is internal to the Boom amp, not in the speakers. The new HD/RF 3-way Stage II speakers use 1 channel for each speaker with speaker internal cross-over network.
