Had 2 of the 1200.4 2 ohm units that were bad.. First one would never settle on a gain voltage, second was DOA. The shop let me trade the 1200 for a 2400 evox. It seems to run a little cooler than the 1200 did....will see what happens. I installed it with 3/4 spaces on the tray. If this one lays down, will be looking at a different setup. Looks like I will end up with a new 1200 evox, DSR1 and plug in harness for back ups, or sale.....was a crazy ride

Not feeling warm and fuzzy about the 800.4 SD amp I ordered yesterday.

Where I ordered it had refurbished units available looking back that should have been my clue.

I meant to follow up on this one and thanks for the update. This just goes to prove the old adage that there isn't a problem that can't be solved with enough time and money.

Yep, the only good part about the whole mess was ended I up with a 2400 for the price of a 1200. I will say that the setup does sound good.. The shop was very helpful and did warranty all the components!!

I had to send my sd 1200.4 back to the shop. The fan sounded as if there were bad bearings rubbing and grinding. As well, could never get the gains set. They were all over the place and I could not adjust them properly. I'm hoping the next amp will be ok. I'll be the 3rd one!

I personally would get a refurb over new as it has been thru completely. As stuff is mass produced, the quality control goes down. With a refurb, quality control is more precise.

I understand Gypsye's thinking on this. Unfortunately with some vendors "refurb" just means that they plugged it up, ran a couple of quick tests, and shipped the item back out for sale. In some cases problems don't show up until the unit has been running for a while.

I would hope that SD has pride in their workmanship to where they wouldn't do that, but I have seen a lot of "refurbished" equipment over the years that was pretty flaky.

Great point!
Trading the 2400 4 2 ohm for a 4 ohm unit to power the two sets of GZCF'S and a set of Mmats 6 x 9......hope it arrives alive.
