Ran the LL up until last month when I switch the head unit and was happy with where I was. Since I upgraded Im back in tinkering mode I guess, and the DSR1 was the on I was looking at. I'm in no rush and prefer the buy once cry once mindset, so I guess we will see what happens when others chime in who know way more than me.

The Soundigital 2400.4 (4ohm version) would power all 8 of your speakers with ease. Each set paralleled to 2ohms on every channel then tuned with a DSP. It's spendy, but it's a nice amp.

Running it in this configuration would give you up to 300 watts per speaker.

I was under the understanding that to set up each channel using a dsp I would want a amp that has a channel for each set of speakers, am I wrong?

If you bump up to lids you'll have 4 sets of speakers. All 4ohm so you could parallel each set. Fairing on Ch1, Lowers on Ch2, Tourpack on Ch3, and Lids on Ch4. You would use 4 channels of the DSP. Those 4 channels would individually tune each SET of speakers. That's just one way to do it. Lots of ways to skin the cat. Just gotta think outside the box.

Another one amp option with DSP would be the Euphoria Expert EX4. You can run everything parallel and get 200w per speaker at 2ohm, for 8 speakers I believe.

Hadn't thought of that. In the past I'd have wanted the stereo separation and so running a pair in parallel wouldn't have been something I'd have looked at.

When I was playing The Great Gig In The Sky and Money (Dark Side Of The Moon) the other day I didn't even really notice the stereo effects while riding. The Boom! HU doesn't even have a L/R balance as I recall.

I could do this with my 4180 (each set in parallel on it's own channel) and use the front/rear fader to get better balance between the SVs in the lowers and the 7.1s in the fairing. Sort of a poor man's way to get around one of my issues anyway.

Guess I'd want a DSP to blend the L/R inputs though. Anyway something to think about.

Lots of folks get hung up on the whole "Stereo" thing. You're just not gonna notice the separation at highway speeds. As far as the BT4180 and a DSP, without the ability to turn off the internal crossover on the amp I'm not sure how much good the DSP would help.

I didn't think the 4180 had any crossover, thought it was done with LL and or the headunit.

good point. I should check with them to see if they have a way to disable it internally but I should just stay with what I've got for the moment anyway. I think I'm just looking for an excuse to upgrade

No it has one but I can't remember what it's set at.
