While doing some research today for a planned audio upgrade on my wife's '21 Tri-Glide, I pulled up the .bin files on her trike and my '17 Ultra CVO, and was amazed at how many damn .bin files she has on the trike compared to my CVO. My bike had the following 3 bin files: 00_OFF.bin, 00_OFF_OE_FLHT_4.bin, and 00_ON.bin. That's it. Fairly straightforward and simple
My wife's non-cvo Tri-Glide had 109 .bin files. Yes folks, that is correct, I said 109! I took pictures of them because counting them out in the garage was a PITA. Her bike has the same 3 .bin files as mine. I did note the gray highlighted .bin file is 08_OFF.bin, which I am assuming is highlighted because the bike is currently off. Is there a way to see which .bin is used while the bike is running, or do I have assume it is 08_ON.bin?
Is the 08_OFF.bin and 08_ON.bin the preferred files for adding an aftermarket amp to the bike? Searching the forum gives conflicting answers about the 08 .bin, the 135 .bin, and the RF .bin file.
Can I simply choose one of the other .bin files if one of the other .bin files is preferable, or does changing the .bin still require a flash at the dealership? I didn't want to go crazy trying stuff and brick her 2 month old trike, my recliner isn't the greatest for sleeping in...
I started with BT355's and stock setting/flash. Recently went with the PAC SNI-15's and got the RF (Rockford Fosgate) flash and my bin file now is 08_OFF.bin...stock was 02_OFF.bin.
When I was having an email conversation with Biketronics back in the winter, I'm almost certain they told me that the 08_OFF.bin was the Trike flash and a preferred flash.
Yes the TR is the only way I know of to get the 8/2 flash.....post up and I bet someone around has a TR. I flash around here for the cost of the TR license per bike
If it matters to you, the 8/2 flash wont give you fade option. If no DSP in play I think most guys get RF flash to retain fade. Pretty sure thats how it goes.

Yep thats correct. I use it do to being the flattest and closet in voltage between run and Acc.

Or buy the TechnoResearch Alaris flash tool that's good for one bike (kind of like a Power Vision tuner). That way you can switch & try different flashes.
American Hard Bag has them for $269. Here's the one for 2021+ https://www.americanhardbag.com/prod...io-harley-2021

Retaining the fader does matter, so for now I will be keeping the stock 08_OFF.bin and 08_ON.bin files. No point in paying money to flash to the 8/2 when the current .bin may be perfectly fine.
If a flash becomes needed, I may very well buy the Centurion Super Pro seeing as I currently have 3 2017+ Harleys and will probably be getting another in a year or two.
If you are not going aftermarket amp you are fine. If using an aftermarket amp, flash 8/2 or R/F to flatten the EQ, or use a line level.......flash sounds better to me

I will be using an aftermarket amp but retaining the fader is also important so I'll stick with the stock flash at 1st. My wife isn't an audiophile, so she may be happy with the stock flash, especially if she doesn't know it "could" be better.
