While doing some research today for a planned audio upgrade on my wife's '21 Tri-Glide, I pulled up the .bin files on her trike and my '17 Ultra CVO, and was amazed at how many damn .bin files she has on the trike compared to my CVO. My bike had the following 3 bin files: 00_OFF.bin, 00_OFF_OE_FLHT_4.bin, and 00_ON.bin. That's it. Fairly straightforward and simple
My wife's non-cvo Tri-Glide had 109 .bin files. Yes folks, that is correct, I said 109! I took pictures of them because counting them out in the garage was a PITA. Her bike has the same 3 .bin files as mine. I did note the gray highlighted .bin file is 08_OFF.bin, which I am assuming is highlighted because the bike is currently off. Is there a way to see which .bin is used while the bike is running, or do I have assume it is 08_ON.bin?
Is the 08_OFF.bin and 08_ON.bin the preferred files for adding an aftermarket amp to the bike? Searching the forum gives conflicting answers about the 08 .bin, the 135 .bin, and the RF .bin file.
Can I simply choose one of the other .bin files if one of the other .bin files is preferable, or does changing the .bin still require a flash at the dealership? I didn't want to go crazy trying stuff and brick her 2 month old trike, my recliner isn't the greatest for sleeping in...

Reason: grammar, punctuation
To change the bin file that the HU is using you'll have to take it to the dealer and have them change it when they re-flash it according to which amp and speaker combination you're installing on the trike.

Have you actually changed .bin files at all? Does your bike have the plethora of .bin files like my wife's trike does? If so, have you or have you not tried changing through the GTS interface?
I should have mentioned earlier I'm not adding any additional speakers, keeping 2 in the fairing and 2 in the tour pack, but will be upgraded to better quality speakers (Polk DB652) and a Clarion XC2410 amp. I currently have the Polks in my '17 Ultra and they were a 200% upgrade over the Boom stage 1 crap. I'm also using the Polks and the amp in my Jeep. They work great, the amp is very compact, and it has speaker level inputs, so no LOCs needed.
I just installed a 2019 CVO GTS Radio in my 16 Tri Glide a few weeks ago.
Right now I'm just running my stock speakers until I can get a Stinger amp and Hertz NEO 165 SX speakers for the TP pods. I have a set of Mmats for the fairing already, but I'm just waiting for funds to allow the purchase of the amp and other speakers to upgrade the system.
I have not yet checked which bin file my GTS is using. I will have to see which one it's using for curiosity.
Depends on your upgrade. Are you going aftermarket? What are the plans? Bin on is when the bike is running and Bin off is in ACC........you have no control over that with a stock HU. TR= techno research programmer for motorcycles

Keeping the stock 4 speaker setup and GTS hu. Will be installing a Clarion XC2410 and Polk DB652s in the fairing and tour pack.
You'll want to flash the GTS HU with Techno Research tool and use one of the aftermarket vendor flashes to give the HU a flat eq curve. That will make it ready to use the aftermarket amp, tune the amp, and push more power and clarity to your aftermarket 4 speaker setup.

After 4+ hours of reading hundreds of forum posts today, it seems TR is the only way to get the 8/2 flash that will be optimal. I appreciate the confirmation!!!
