Default Just a simple question (I hope)

I hope this is a simple and not offensive question. I have the Harley Boom system on my '18 SGS. I have stage 2, that is boom amp and the stage 2 fairing speakers. With out replacing anything, i know there are many other options, but for money sake. is there anything i could add to what i have to improve sound? I know speakers may help, but would a DSP improve anything? I feel the system sounds fine, but i'd like a little "more"

thanks
Jake

You could try to add some better 2ohm speakers, but thats about it. Otherwise "more" requires....well more. More watts and better speakers to handle more watts.

Do you think speakers alone would be an improvement? It’s just I’ve been reading about systems and it seems harley radios are set at a flat curve (just what I have read). People who update their systems seems to mention the DSP as something that is “required”.
which lead me to wonder if I did add a DSP to the Boom 2 set up would it provide and difference

surprisingly to me, I could find anything in the search where it was done by anyone else

maybe a bad idea, hence no posts about it

Harley radios have anything BUT a flat curve from my understanding. Someone more technical can confirm. But I DO know the boom radios had built in EQ and bass bumps to make their speakers sound good in showrooms, which is about the only place they sound good. lol

DSP's are required for simple coax setups. Sure you can use them and can get some benefits from using one, provided you know how to set it up and tune properly. They are def needed when running component systems where tweeters and mids and other speakers are used to round out a system.

You could try some 2ohm speakers. I ran the infinity kappa 62.ix in my last bike, which I think are 2ohm with an amp of course. But for 120 bucks a pair, not a bad price to test. Then you could always add a cheap amp like the sound stream p520 for another 100 bucks. If you went with an amp, you'd need to have your radio flashed to get rid of that built in EQ curve. That usually runs 50 to 100 bucks.

The short story is Boom audio doesn't like to mix with any other type of equipment. You are MUCH better off to replace the amp and speakers, which can be done cost effectively and sound 10x better than the Boom 2. Save up some cash and replace it all man. If you wanting to get more from the system, then you need to do it correctly. You've already spent thousands of dollars on the bike....
