as the other guys have said,,one other thing, once you've got your volume, then you can wwork the EQ, but instead of boosting frequencys,, subtract from the others in order to get the similar sound,,,work by subtraction instead of addition.

Mine never sounded quite right until I put in a DSP and had it tuned by someone that knew what they were doing....

I ran the stinger mmats combo in my 17 and it sounded great...no dsp.

The only difference is I was using the stock HU and had it flashed.
