I'm hoping someone on here can point me in the right direction. My brother has a 2011 CVO Street Glide and was having some issues with the sound system. That has been remedied but he said the system on this one is now as loud as his last bike which was a stock 2013 street glide. From what I've gathered it looks like the CVO has a different sound system installed? Is there any easy way to get it a little louder without replacing everything? It's fine around town but gets lost at highway speeds.
Sounds like you need to update software for the radio. It can be done from your computer and a thumb drive, for free.
It's been a while for me - look for Boom audio updates on Harleys website.
While your at it, maps for Navigation can be updated as well, but for a fee.
your brother's sound system is probably the same, or very close, to the one that i had on my 2013 cvo. it was not great. i blew one of the fairing mounted speakers and found that for the cost of the speakers, it was cheaper to go with an aftermarket amp and compatible speakers. i used an arc audio amp and infinity speakers in the fairing. much better sound. then, for even better sound, i replaced the harmon kardon head unit with the aquatic av headunit. that was a little pricey at almost $600, but in the grand scheme of things, i ended up with about $1100 in the sound system.
as an aside. i never replaced the saddlebag lid speakers. even when they worked, at any speed over 35mph, they were about worthless.

Thanks for the info, and they are probably very similar, he has 2x 5.25 speakers and 2x 1" tweeters in the fairing and then 2x 6.5 speakers in the lowers. I told him that would be his best direction to change out the harley stuff. I think he is looking for a cheaper fix but I'm not sure there is one with that original set up.
Well, there is GOOD and there is CHEAP.. he would have to pick one and then we can give him the other. My 21 Ultra sound system plain SUCKS... it is coming out very soon. Everything except the HU... between the amps, speakers blah blah I am probably looking at a bit over $5K total BUT it will sound a lot better. The Boom Audio crap even in this day in age sucks, well except for the HU which is about $2K but you cannot find them. All depends on budget and how far down the rabbit hole he wants to go.. there is NO GOOD AND CHEAP system.
have a mod move your post to the audio section. the members that frequent the site will provide you with options from mild to wild depending on budget.
good luck!
Your brother might get more help if you stated exactly how he remedied it.
If he bought a used radio and just put it in it may not be set up for his system.
There are settings in the HK software the dealer has access to that we do not (example, two or four speakers, amp, etc. )
You might try Iron Cross Audio for help with a HK radio.

Replacement speakers are not cheap, He could do it on an budget With a SS PN4.1000d and 4 Skar TX65. That would be about 350 which I think about what CVO speakers cost.

He had speakers that were cutting in and out, the MoCo tried to sort that out and replaced some wiring, and the amp. Unfortunately while I was riding it this weekend it seems like it didn't correct the issue. So I guess that's still an issue and will need to be figured out and resolved as to what that issue is? Personally I didn't have an issue with the volume, but I'm used to my '93 Ultra and the radio is not exactly kicking in that thing.
