It is all about matching ohms and power. The stock head unit just does not put out the power needed to drive a quality speaker. When you remove the stock speaker you will see that they are a 3 dollar POS.

Precision Power 6.5, 2 ohm.
They would sound 100x with an amp, but if your looking for an easy, drop in replacement, I would recommend these. You could always add an amp later.

Well in my case I have a single Boom amp and 4 speakers. I tried to contact Precision Power and Volunteer to see how it would work and got zero info.

Here is the bottom line @ 300.00 for the PP HD14-6.5 once you add an amp you now have crappy speaker that is loud. There is no cheap easy way to make the Boom stuff sound great. Many before you have tried and many after will try. Most end up spending 2x what they would have if they would have got the right components to get the sound they are after the first time. Most come in wanting to be able to hear the music loud and clear @ 75mph for you and a passenger. A simple speaker upgrade will not get you there. Now if you want it to sound a little better in the garage you maybe can get away with that.

Not to mention the horrible, mid-bass boosted EQ on the BOOM. That EQ is just setting you up to blow speakers and not hear them on the highway.

Search the posts for boom audio and you can read for days
2nd the Infinity Kappa speakers!!! And i also had Kenwood amp ..but Skar Audio makes a.decent speaker ...and there's a guy that runs a audio shop.and has a YouTube channel and does reviews on different speakers, and levels of price vs performance...I believe he's out of New Jersey...
