20907659[/url]]Unless he's using an iPad I am still perplexed , I don't know what bike he/she has, but almost every phone fits in the bat wing, and if its a RG everything fits, maybe he's not aware he has CarPlay capabilities, but once he figures that out he will realize that $150 was a waste of funds.
Im not sure I follow you. When you say fits in the fairing do you mean that little pocket? My iPhone 11 wont fit and Im not sure my wifes 12 Mini wouldnt either (and its about as small as a modern, non-flip phone gets). Surely you dont mean inside the fairing itself (as in removing the outer fairing and putting the phone inside with the HU)?
Just confused, Seems that you have a GTS, why in this world would you pay for Navitrex ? Waze-Google and Maps, 3 different up to date maps.
Google maps will fail to navigate if you're too far out of service as it will fail to download maps and map-related data. In those cases it's good to have a fallback. You can pre-download google maps, but it's nice not to have to deal with that. This will probably never ever happen to someone who sticks to major state highways and interstates, but it happens pretty commonly if you ride remote back roads in the westernmost states.
HD comes through again. Went to the dealer to have my navigation maps updated. They told me that is the only update they cannot do. Went online watched the videos. Google and YouTube are great. Took about two hours. Mainly downloading and uploading. Corrected my outdated street map issue. Freeways here had some major ramp changes! Here is the kicker. $150.00 for the upgrade. It seems expensive but, so does $38,000 for a new 2022 Ultra limited.
Just use Google Maps with your headset, it's free and more advanced in features, plus you can cache maps for when you out of range of cell towers. Garman and Tom Tom make the HD and BMW-branded GPS units. With Android Auto, you can project maps on any Android Auto enabled display head. You can also you RAM XGrip with a tablet or phone.
Guess it depends on where one's travels are going, down the road or across the country. I use my phone on my bars on occasion, but mainly to control my Gopro, turning the cam on and recording and such. I use myroute app, with carplay to my gts screen, which has offline maps, which has saved my bacon a number of times out in SD, NC, AR, backwoods, and other places where google couldn't get to me. I think you can download offline maps through google but gotta plan ahead for that because when the tower range is gone, then that's all she wrote.
I have not had any serious issues with my HD GTS Nav maps. It did get a little wonky in Chicago a couple of years ago, and there are some roads in the Nevada desert that it thinks do not exist, but it has gotten me around the country relatively safe.
I might just check into that update.
I did both of my GM Nav updates last year when they were on sale for $99, and was happy with the new software, hoping the HD upgrade is as good ?
