Default Planning new audio upgrades.

So …….. I have been doing my due diligence trying to plan my audio upgrades to my 09 Ultra Classic. Looking for your thoughts.

here’s what I’m thinking.

*Kenwood 382bt head unit.

*changing all speakers from 5.25 “ to 6.5” using Infinity Kappa perfect 600x component. Fairing and tour pack pods. I will be using the jsp speaker rings to change size.

*soundstream 1200 w amp. It will give me rms 100x4 at 4 ohm

*metra install kit

*scosche handbar control module

*amp rack

*nvx silicone speaker baffles.

**** thinking about adding a 6.5” maybe 8” sub to tour pack. But not sure on that yet. Ideas thoughts welcome on this.

am I missing anything???? Anyone use the Infinity speakers? From what I read they have more lower end than the hertz show line. I would prefer quality over loudness. Lol.

what do you guys think?

I have also thought about changing the inner fairing to add a double din radio.

while it’s all torn apart I will be painting the inner to match.

I also want to update my guages. Looking at the guage modz

100x4 @ 4ohms maybe a bit light for an 8 speaker set up. Hwen you run that amp @ 2ohms you get 150W that will yield 75W per speaker that will be ok for the tweeters but not for the mids. I would pump the brakes on that set up. You could do Mmats 601cx and they sound good at 100W really loud at 125-140W. The GZ's are popular in the fairing also.

Ummmm????? This may be a stupid question but what are Mmats? And Gz?

I wasn’t accounting additional draw for the tweeters. At least from what I read 100 x 4 was a “good” set up? I prefer good quality sound not just loud.

Mmats = PA601.4cx This is a very popular speaker in this forum. They come in at a good price and sound good. They also do NOT need a ton of power. 100-140W and they are happy

GZ= GZCF6.5spl They play lower than the Mmats but take more power. 175-250W but the more power the more the highs come out.
A very good and popular combo is 4 Mmats PA601.4cx and the Stinger amp SPX700.4 This is a budget system that sounds pretty good. You will need a Spacer for the tour pak and they need to be clocked ( turned the right way) to fit. The stinger will not kill your FM like the Soundstream does.

Great recommendation...I would personally throw a set of Hertz SX 165 Neo's in the TP and skip the need for a spacer...they'll get louder than the mmats with the same power from the Stinger amp. Will cost a little more but the offset will come from not needing the spacer for the TP.
