A friend of mine want to install 6 1/2-inch speakers in his saddlebag lids. There are new replacement lids on ebay that are ready drilled and molded to aim the speakers towards the riders. His bike is a 2012 Ultra, but he has some 2015 saddlebags that he might want to paint and put on the bike, and I know that ebay has lids of both styles available from the same seller. Has anyone used these lids? Are they a good product or should he forget about them and do something else?
I would stay away from those lids. You get what you pay for when it comes to ebay and amazon. Flimsy garbage. I have speed by design lids for 8 that look good but thats about it and if I had to do it over I would go 6x9 or maybe dual 6x9. Go cheap and you'll get just that. The only thing I honesty hear from the back is the tweeters when riding down the road.
Sorry to be the floater in the punch bowl but 6.5s in lids would just be a waste of time and money. For pre-Rushmore bikes Hogtunes makes some good 6x9 lids which I like better than the Rockford cut in kit. They keep rain out well also.

Were all floating. I dont know anyone that wants 6.5 in the lid. I wish I never had the 8s

My friend is trying to not spend a lot. And he's not a Stereophile. He has very simple tastes and knows pretty much nothing about this, and I only know a little.
