I’d guess (based upon my professional opinion), that the rating offered in the product description only refers to the exposed surfaces (the screen area).

it's why I still run a 309 Custom Audio bat-cape under the wing and over the wiring, even though these days my HDHU.14si is as waterproof as the OEM radio
