Hello guys
Im putting a Sound Stream kit from Volunteer audio with updated hand controls on my 23 FLHTP, but it came to me that Ill lose my passing lamps. Im hoping the vast amount of knowledge and experts here could be able to advise me on what I need to do to keep my passing lamps functioning. I know theres an auxiliary kit Harley seems, so is this as simple as installing one of those to keep my passing lamps? Ty very much. James

When converting a service bike to a civilian bike, the audio is pretty straight forward IF you have to correct wiring harness kit.
As for the Passing lamps YES you will be able to retain them and also use them as factory with the OEM dash switch and no additional wiring.
You will need to find the appropriate wiring diagrams for both the police and civilian bike to make sure the options you want to run are properly wired. You will also need to find a shop that can access the BCM to activate the circuits for a civilian bike.
Also you will have to repin a couple of plugs to get the horn to operate.
I have done a couple of conversions. They are more time consuming then difficult if you have the proper resources.

Thanks BB. Electrical is not my strong suit, but it sounds likes its a possibility to get the pass8ng lamps going. I really hate to lose them if possible.
I have a 21' FLHTP Electra Glide and added the lighted hand controls, Metra radio power wiring harness, HD dash switches for the aux. lights, with the Soundstream radio.
after fighting a mystery Canbus problem with the Metra harness to Harley factory wiring, it's all good now.
I just added the auxiliary light dash switch and the spot lights worked without any BCM programming.
Now if I could only find a decent FM antenna that will work in the fairing.

Good Luck,

Do you have the part number for the switch please? I think I bought the wrong switch. Ty
I am in the same boat. I have a 2022 FLHTP that I want in install a aftermarket radio, enable hand controls and retail passing lamps. Any guidance is appreciated. I ordered lighted hand controls but left side did not work. I did make the pin switch under the seat per volunteer audio video. I noticed I have 3 wires on one side and 4 on the other. I think 2022 FLHTP might have some difference. Anyone who has been able to make it work for 2022+ Police bikes could be a great help here. Thanks in advance.

It is a pretty simple conversation from police bike to civilian.
You need a way to access the BCM to make sure the hand control functions and lights are properly activated. Install prpoer harnesses, wire in accessories and enjoy.

Thanks for your response but unfortunately not very helpful. Can you please guide me on how to gain access to BCM ?
I do have the right harnesses installed for the radio and speakers. Just can get the hand controls to work properly. Looking for part numbers that are compatible. 22+ wire repin looks different. Thanks.
