Harley in their infinite wisdom has just discontinued the Sena Bluetooth headsets and are going to Cardio. The only bikes that take the Cardio are 2024 and up. All 2023 and older bike with the WHIM are now obsolete. Only units still in the dealers are available and they will not be able to order more.
Sena from Harley are the only wireless headsets that will work in stereo thru the module so once they are gone we are **** out of luck as Harley are the ones that manufactured these units not Sena.
Since Harley will not supply them and Sena does not make the Harley branded units we have all been thrown under the bus.
I talked to a guy at Harley customer service and he said there is nothing he can do as they dont tell them much except to have as many people call and tell them this is a breach of contract to all who have paid for wireless systems. Maybe enough heat and they will keep them available but who knows what the money grubbing executives will do.
Please voice your opinions but not the old listen to your bike not a stereo as I use them for bike to bike communication.
I was aware that Harley moved to Cardo - but was not aware that they discontinued the Sena model that is supposed to work with the WHIM. As you mentioned, other bluetooth headsets will work with the WHIM however, they are mono.
So, another question might be - are the batteries in the Harley Sena the same as the regular Sena (probably so). At least you can get batteries. What happens if you beat one - or lose one?
Harley has also done a few other things - like discontinued the CB module. I have one in my bike - but have already wondered what might happen if mine stopped working.
My guess is - someone may come up with a way to make the regular Sena and perhaps other wireless headsets more compatible with the WHIM. By the way, did you notice that the new radios in some of the 2024 bikes can't use the WHIM.
The new bikes have Bluetooth built in but the older 2023 and lower are not compatible with anything other than the old Harley brand Sena. Since that they do not make them Sena will not be able to manufacture stereo headsets.
Unless they do a firmware upgrade to take non Harley Sena we are sol. I have talked to many people and per law they have to have support and parts, replacement available for 4 years after they change but not sure if this goes for “Toys” as motorcycles are considered.
I am looking into a class action lawsuit as they did this with the CB module but may be like hitting your head against the wall until you are tired of the squishy sound.
This isn't just applicable to the 2023 models, the 2024 Ultra Limited and Road Glide Ultras will also be affected by this (GTS head units). They are current models on the sales floor right now.
Shoot I was by the Durham dealership a couple of weeks ago and they still had almost a dozen new 23 model touring bikes on their showroom floor. Just another case where Harley is doing all they can to **** their customers off to see if they finally jump ship.
