Yet Another WHIM / Jumper GTS Question
I did some searching, and didn't see the answer I'm looking for.
I'm riding: 2020 CVO Limited. c/w a WHIM and came with a HD SENA 30K.
I took on a Canada C2C ride - on that ride, my 30K s--t the bed, and I was forced to switch to my backup, a previously bought SENA 20K. It worked for music, and phone calls [wife checking in] but CarPlay never worked the entire ride. Which was a p off as I wanted WAZE to help with OPP encounters. So I've bought an Amazon WHIM Jumper.
I figure this should alleviate all the nonsense with WHIM / SENA / HD SENA codec / Lightning connector AND I can run CarPlay with a half helmet.
Before I pull the fairing, any thoughts?
Thank you
The jumper will go in the same slot as the WHIM. So, you should now be able to get carplay. What I don't know is - does the CVO have headset connectors for the rider and passenger. If it does and the headset connector is still on the bike (unplugged), you can connect that where the WHIM is.
Then you should be able to use carplay with a headset.
Maybe the jumper will be rid of this BS. I'm hopeful the jumper might add CarPlay while riding with a half [no?] helmet. Its a work in progress...
FWIW, Apple requires a headset (Mic) to be connected in order to have CarPlay available. If I were you I'd charge my headsets good, start the bike, connect the headsets, then plug the phone in... and see if it works and how reliable it works... then do the same dance anytime you shut the bike off and start it up again. But if using a wireless headset, CarPlay is going to go away when the headset (mic) disconnects.
If you already know all this, excuse my posting the obvious....
Do you know an Indy shop with TechnoResearch? I believe they can get to a setting with TechnoResearch, that your HD dealer can not get to with Digital Tech, and they will be able to make your CarPlay be available with or without a headset (mic) and you don't need a jumper either (its the "old" software hack)... might be worth checking into. I have been doing it since the GTS came out, on my previous bike and a 23 RGL, but with a wired headset system. Should work the same way with WHIM. There is a setting some 3rd party diagnostic software (Techno Research, Diag4Bike, etc) can still see that Digital Tech can not anymore.

Was thinking of the nonHD 60S, A Cardo, or looking closer to the J&M stuff.
Long winter to contemplate.,,
