All you need to do to get carplay to work on a GTS is connect the two pins in the whim connector. I've done this on a few bikes including a 21RGS and 23 RGS. It works better than a whim. But this method is only for those that don't want to connect/pair a headset to the GTS. Also, with this method, you can use just about any wireless carplay adapter. Once you set it up, anytime you turn on the bike, carplay will automatically come up if your phone is not locked.

CarPlay should be working then... HD and Apple had an issue less than a year after the GTS's came out. It was over a setting that was accessible via Digital Tech for "CarPlay Mic Type", and its options were Wired, Wireless, or Disable. When set to Disable, it would disable the need for a mic, and CarPlay would work whether or not you had a headset (mic) connected (this is the old "software hack"). This was a violation of Apple's use requirements, and to settle the dispute HD did an update to their diagnostic software (Digital Tech) to where they can not access the "disable" setting... they have to pick between wired or wireless... and that was the late spring of 2020. So that it is not what you have going on. This setting is still there by the way, and can be accessed via some third party diagnostic software, like TechnoResearch or Diag4Bike.

Only things I can think of, is verify the bikes USB cable is still connected good to the back of the head unit.... when your iPhone is plugged in to the bikes USB, does it connect to the head unit and charge?

What USB cable are you using to your iPhone? I would use an Apple cord to test with.

What headset are you using? Not all headsets are CarPlay compatible, not even all HD headsets. HD's half helmet ones for example, some have had issues using them and getting CarPlay to work, and even on HD's website is says "not CarPlay compatible"... your bike new came with 1 "premium" headset that is CarPlay compatible. I would use the ones that came with your bike, if the PO left them in the bike, to test with.

I have a '23 RGL, and on it CarPlay works as good as CarPlay works, it is no different than it is in my GMC truck... so yours should be working too.

FWIW, and you may already know this, I too use a wireless CarPlay modules (in my truck and on the bike) and there is a setting on the phone when pairing your iPhone with the wireless module, that if you agree to it, CarPlay will automatically connect whether your iPhone is locked or not. I turn on my bike, and if my iPhone is near by, it connects without any interaction at all. Sometimes I will get the screen on the head unit about "do I want to connect" and if I do nothing it will connect in a few seconds on its own.

IF he gets CarPlay working like it is supposed to, he could add the wireless CarPlay module too and continue using a headset. Depends on what his preference is. I am just saying this so the OP understands that this is not WHIM (not part of wireless headsets), that this is wireless CarPlay, and it's a different animal.

I'm tracking the settings.. for someone that is not familiar with this setup, I advise to unlock the phone when connecting. It will automatically connect 90% of the time (for me) but every now and again I'll get a popup on my phone saying unlock to use carplay even though it's set to automatically connect when locked. Sometimes it will connect to the wireless adapter before I turn the bike on by just raising it off the jiffy stand.. Using a headset with this setup (not with a WHIM) could probably be it's own thread... But, what I found was, it's possible with a few restrictions. The phone is bluetoothed to the headset and not the stereo. Plug the phone into the USB (haven't tried the wireless route) Then use the phone to choose the output to the headset. Now you have music coming through the headset. The restriction is, you can't control the volume or skip songs with the hand controls, you have to either use the phone or the headset's volume controls. If I remember correctly you can select music using the touchscreen on the GTS. If you found a way around these restrictions, I'd love to hear how you did it.

I so seldom use a headset I really couldn't speak to what you are doing. When I do use a headset, I just plug the headset in to the bike and all controls work. I am going to guess you have to adjust volume and next track on the phone though, but thats just a WAG.

This is non-sense. I have the same bike, '23 RGL. I use CarPlay every time I ride, and I use it with the WHIM. (the WHIM may very well be discontinued in the coming years, not because it doesn't work, but because it is not needed with the newer infotainment system).

The number one reason why CarPlay does not work with the BOOM GTS is pairing confusion. To work around this, unpair the Bluetooth connection between the helmet and the phone, you don't need it, you can do everything through the infotainment system AND, when using the BOOM, you can do it all with the handlebar controls. If the phone and helmet are paired, the BT connections get confused, and the infotainment system is not properly paired with the helmet. It is a tricky connection, CarPlay (on the phone) needs to know there is a microphone available to the infotainment system. The mic can only be connected to one source at a time, so if it is connected directly to the phone, the mic won't be available to the infotainment system and CarPlay will not accept the infotainment system as a complete solution, so it won't work.

There are some other issues: for example, if you are using an iPhone that uses lightning cables, for best results, use genuine Apple cables. Knockoffs sometimes depend on the orientation of the lightning plug. Also, your headset (whether integrated in your helmet from the factory, or added on, should be, for best results, a genuine Sena, which includes the HD branded ones) again, knockoffs may provide inconsistent results,

Tons of guys here are giving some great tips - however the OP is not reading. So, until he comes back, there is little we can do to help him out.

I added Apple Car Play without adding a mic.
