I learned early about the WHIM and wired connections. This is exactly why I didn't install the WHIM. I wanted to maintain my use of the wired headsets.
Holt - you and I have been chatting about the dongle - think we both have them working just fine. If ever you figure out a way to talk with the dongle - hey, keep me informed. For now, as long as I can talk to my wife and hear everything else, I am good.
Actually my short attention span took over and I never ordered the J&M dongle. I think it may be because I primarily ride the Geezer Glide with a half helmet, I only have my ears covered from about December through February, so I forget about it quick
So am I understanding correctly that you can do everything with the J&M dongle except talk to the head unit?

Somehow, I thought you got it. Several guys in my chapter are now using it. We used to talk by way of CB - however, since Harley is doing away with that, the Cardo comm system appears to be the way to go.
Yep, the dongle does everything except talk to the head unit. So, I turn it on - it connects to me bike and my Cardo. The music from my stereo comes into my helmet. So, does the directions from my Harley Ride planner and/or my AA unit.
I sync my Cardo with other riders in the group - so, we can talk on long trips.

So in this configuration can you answer a phone call with the Cardo connection to your phone? The only reason I was really thinking of this is because my Wife only calls when I'm not wearing a headset it seems.

LOL - yes, you can still answer a call with the Cardo.
I am certain she will find another reason to say you are doing something wrong - mine always does (lol)

I might give that J&M unit a try one day. They seem to have a sale on one of their budget headsets, but I can't tell if it has to use adhesive to mount to the helmet or just a metal clip. I don't want to permanently mount anything to my helmets, they get swapped around a lot. That being said I don't know if cheaper units would pair to both the GTS and a headset at the same time.

Problem solved - buy the Cardo unit and buy an extra helmet kit.

If they weren't so pricey I would, but I'm just not a headset/cell phone type of guy. I know they are convenient, but I don't like tinkering with them a lot. That's why I was thinking something cheap just to enable audio from the GTS and maybe answer the rare incoming call. As far as music goes I am set with an eight speaker/three amp system that does all I want it to.
