Default Do I need to remove whim

My HD brand sena has died and has been replaced by a cardio headset. The headset connects to the phone but when I connect the phone to the bikes usb connector, I loose the connection from headset to phone. the bike picks up the phone, phone charges and stero works. I have gone into settings and changed from speaker to headset. Doesn’t work.

I need to be able to charge the phone and use the headset at the same time. What am I missing?

Bike has the Harley amps and speaker

Hello.

It does help to give us a little more information. What year and model is your bike. Also, are you using the GTS radio.

Is your phone an iPhone or Android. Finally, is the Cardo a HD branded Cardo unit?

If you want to control the radio via your headset (i.e. voice commands), you'll have to pair the headset to the radio, but Cardo doesn't work with the HD BOOM! GT radio that you have, so scratch that idea. Pairing the headset to the phone is the correct solution. It's interesting that the headset losing connection with the phone when the phone is connected to the radio.

Does the headset totally disconnect from the phone? You've verified this in the phone's Bluetooth settings?

I would delete your phone from the radio's BT devices and delete the radio from your phone's BT devices as well. See what happens then.

Yes the phone headset disconnects when I use the the usb (the bike picks up the phone). It doesn’t disconnect if I plug in the phone on a wall socket.

question
if the phone connects to the bike when I plug in the usb, can it also connect to the headset at the same time?

Use a separate charger rather than using the media port to charge with.

Not a problem - this helps.

I have a 21 with the GTS radio. I also have a nonbranded Cardo unit. When I turn my helmet on, it connects to my phone. If I went to google maps and put in some directions, then, those directions will come to my Cardo unit.

If I plug my phone into the USB post, I can see maps - but, the sound goes to my speakers - not my headset. With your radio, you will not see those maps - but, it sounds like you are getting the same thing. To me, this is working correctly.

If your phone in plugged into your cubby, then it should be charging. What else are you trying to accomplish.

BTW, you could add a Harley WHIM - cost about $400 and this would connect your Cardo to your bike. In my opinion, not a good option for you. Once I know what you are trying to accomplish, I may have some other suggestions.

Thanks all.

Unfortunately, I already have a whim. It is money down the drain after Harley and sena stopped making headsets. This wouldn’t be an issue but the mapping on the gtx has no sense of direction.

Ultimately, I was trying to find a way to use the usb for charging the phone while using the headset. My ride is outlasting the phone battery. I was trying to avoid running additional wire for power when the usb port is there.

OK, since you have the WHIM, why not connect the Cardo to the WHIM.

If you have a regular Cardo, you will get momo. Turn the bike on, go to Bluetooth. Pair the rider's headset.

On the Cardo, press the bottom button - it should say pairing. When it does, rll the wheel backwards - should say pairing to bike.

Whim and cardio works but no controls, mono sound, weak sound, and looses connection. Spoke with dealer, they suggest adding an aftermarket adapter but would only be mono. Quality of sound with the phone and cardio is good.

the whim was designed to be a license agreement with Sena and HD.
