Question Mixing Speaker Ohms

I have a Cicada FLX1400.4. I have GZ yellow baskets up front. Can I run a pair of 2 ohm speakers for the rear?

You can mix ohm loads on an amp as long as they are a pair of channels ex channel 1&2 @4 ohm channel 3&4 @2 ohm.
As long as you do not go below the load rating of the amp. Most 4 channel amps are good at 2 ohms in stereo or 4 ohms bridged.

Thanks. That being said, the GZ’s in front are 4 ohm. I ordered a set of Cicada CXX69.4 in 4 ohm. Would I be better off returning and getting them in 2 ohm? Amp does 200x4 in 4 ohm or 350x4 in 2 ohm. Or, make everything 2 ohm?

The CXX69.4 have a warmer tone over the 2 ohm. I have used both versions and perfer the sound of the 4 ohm on the 1400.4.
If you were only using the FLX700.4 I would suggest the 2 ohm speaker.

Make sure you have a 4 guage power and ground going to that amp they like all the DC power you can give them it makes them happy and your output to the speakers will show it.

BTW what part of Illinois are you in?

Good to know. I ordered the 4 ohm and was second guessing myself due to the RMS rating on them. 4 gauge is from the litho battery all the way to the amp. Hertz DSP. I'm in Schaumburg. I visited you years ago when I had my black Street Glide and had brought up some 12 ounce refreshments.

Right on.

My apologies for not remembering. I talk to so many people week to week it gets hard to keep track of everyone including myself LOL.

If you need a set of those CXX69.4 sooner than later I have a set sitting on the shelf

You noticed a difference in tone between the 2 and 4 ohm versions and not related to amp/power tuning? I thought they would be the same just the 2 ohm was more "efficient" and could take a bit more power.

The 2 ohm and 4 ohm speaker take the same power but at different ohm load.
After tuning multiple bikes in different configurations of 2 ohm and 4 ohm speakers I myself can hear the difference between them BEFORE tuning. The 2 ohm will take a different crossover settings than the 4 ohm for starters and the highs on the 4 ohm are not as screechy as the 2 ohm.
