Would like to hear others views out there on MP3 units. Which are good, which ones to avoid, which ones work best with Harley's radio systems, what if any other components needed to use these devices on the bike , etc...etc... I'm looking for the basic models to just play music, somewhere in the 100 - 500 song storage range.(in the $30-$70 ,price range) I don't really want or need all the other functions like FM radio, video, voice recording,or any of that . Any advice will be appreciated, ---- THANK YOU ,---- Matt
why not just put your mp3's on a cd? That is economical and you can get at least 100 on a disc and then you wont have to worry about cables and charging solutions. That's what I have done for the longest time until recently when I upgraded to an aftermarket stereo.
cds work great, but I also have another alternative. Buy an fm transmitter. You can get them on ebay for about $10-15 and then an sd card. They hold tons of music and you can delete and add tracks anytime you want without burning another cd. It plugs into the cig lighter, tune the radio to a low numbered station, like 87.7 and your good to go. All the stereo functions work the same, its great.
If your radio is the HK like my 2009, it has an Auxilary input jack on the front faceplate. I assume that is how you were going to link your player to the radio.
I don't care for FM transmitters especially in a metro area where there's lots of stations spread across the FM spectrum.
As far as MP3 players, there are hundreds out there. I'd research them on CNET to see which ones they rate the highest.
The CD idea is a good idea as well and one that I have used in the past.

I use a Sansa Clip Plus 4gb holds up too 1000 songs and the battery last for 15 hours..I use Formations Clip it too mount the mp3 player too the bike. The sansa cost 37 at best buy and the mount cost around 40. I had take the clip off the sansa and mount diff one on too the mp3 player for it too fit.
