Default Help with aftermarket speaker change.

I have an 08 SG with rinehart true duals that my wife keeps complaining that she can't here the radio at speed. I would like to change the speakers but find that what is available for bikes lacks the bass which is the wave that really travels. I intalled J & m 7.25 on a customer's bike and they sound loud but tinny. Any experience with using marine speakers, infinity, jbl, polk etc. they sound better and are less money but can they be made to fit. Much appreciate your input.

I think that you should look around on the touring section you will find the answers you are looking for. There are many options. The touring section has tons of posts on this topic and you should have no problems finding what people are running.
I am running HOGTUNES three way for the freeway with a hog pod and an amp. It is plenty loud for me and the back replacment speakers are way better than stock. HOG TUNES just put out 7inch woofers as well. Mine are also tiny at high volume ranges. It is hard to get good bass from small speakers. Look into Hawg wired; expensive but heard good things about them. They seem to have sperate crossvers and amps for each speaker the crossovers help splitting the frequncies to each speaker low mid nd high so you get a clear sound becuase all parts of the speaker are olnly getting the frequency they cana handle. I am no expert, Like I said check out the touring section and you'll find guys on there with crazy systems!!!! I just dont want to loose storage space and would rather spend my $$$ on other stuff. Good luck.

i have ARC audio 6.5's in my fairing with a hogpod all powered by a ARC audio amp, i have had people i ride with tell me they can hear my radio over theirs when they are riding behind me. i too can hear a tad bit of tinny noise, but i think that you might have to deal with that, asking those small speakers in a small space to pump out alot of bass might be over doing it. now another thing you might think about is buy a set of lower fairings and then buying speaker pods for the glove box area in the lowers, you can then put another set of 6.5's in those with another amp and have a kick *** system. me and my dad just got done putting his system together on his RG he has a JVC head unit, 1 ARC audio amp and 1 ELF audio amp, (1 amp per set of 6.5's) Infinity Kapa 6.5's in his upper and lower fairing, and that thing sounds BAD ***. if you need any help just let me know.

Check out the Woof Pak from hellsfoundry.com I have one. This thing rocks. Gotta have a tourpak, though. 3rd speaker upgrade. I have Hertz Titans & they sound great. I bet the sub makes 'em sound even better, than without the sub. I never heard Hertz Titan speakers before. The guy who put in the Woof Pak does stereos for bikes only & he recommended the HTs. I wish Bose would make speakers for a fairing.
