Default Help with 2005 Road Glide speaker replacement

Hi Guys:

Can you answer some questions for me in regard to a 2005 Road Glide. I want to just replace the existing front speakers that are stock. Can I just use any marine grade 5.25 speaker or do I need to be concerned with the top mounting depth? I do not need additional amps or a 6.5 upgrade per say, I would like to just go in a put some beefier 5 1/4's in. Is it compliated and do I have to go with marine grade speakers? Also can anyone tell me what is in there currently before I take the face of the bike off? Any help is appreciated.

  • yes sir, any 4 ohm 5-1/4" speaker will bolt right up to your existing speaker locations and connect to your radio without issue.
  • You could store a dead body inside that shark-nose so space is not an issue.
  • I love my J&Ms but I'm also seeing a ton of recommendations on the Polk Audio lineup and Focal lineup.
  • the removal of the fairing is fairly simple as well. You're best to have a service manual but in essence you're looking at the screws on the windshield trim, the bolts on the turn signal mounts, and I believe (haven't looked at one in a while) 2 more screws on the inside of the fairing and the whole nose comes right off.
  • any speaker with something like a polymer cone will be fine. As long as it's not paper, you're ok.

I have an '04 Roadglide, and just ordered the Arc Audio MPAK 6 from Wayne, firecap, he's a member here and roadglide.org. He was very informative, and he warrantys what he sells for life. Give him a buzz 405-343-5050. If he doesn't answer, leave a message and he will call you back very quickly.

On Road Glides, the windshield comes off with the outer fairing. You don't have to remove those screws.

Just remove the 6 screws on the inner fairing. Three of each side. Then take the 2 nuts off each blinker mount and your done. You need to lift UP first to get the fairing off the hooks. When you put it back on, do yourself a favor and pull the headlight out. This makes it much easier because you can see the hooks that it needs to go over. It's a 15 minute job once you've done it a time or two.
