My 40.4 Hogtunes amp running 7" woofers has been cutting off lately. I suspect it is an issue with the amp.
Has anybody experienced this?
When it happens only the woofers cut out. If I turn off the radio for a few seconds and back on it seems to reset. It may play for a minute or an hour before doing it again. It makes no difference which device is in use, FM, MP3, CD. The stock tuner continues to play, just the woofers go dead.
How loud are you playing the stereo when the speakers shut-off?
Some amps have protection built-in to them so that if you are driving the speakers/amp to the point of "clipping" (distortion), they will shut-off (kind of like a circuit breaker).
You may need to re-adjust the gain for the channel that the woofers are connected to, to avoid clipping.
unplug one sub at a time and test volume. if it doesn't cut out you know where the problem is. One of your sub voice coils could be heating up and shorting out causing your amp to clip.

Typically volume is 50% up to 75% - 80%. I try to stay at least 3-4 bars from full volume, same with bass and treble.
I appreciate your suggestion, I will look into the gain adj.

Thanks for your input. I will try this .
When the speakers are playing they sound great. I would not have thought a problem at the speaker was causing the shut down.
I'm having the same problem. I removed the fairing and found one speaker was barely plugged in. When I hooked it up I lost my sound all together. Radio still turns on just have no sound
