What is Digital Technician Software Update?

What is Digital Technician Software Update?
Curious just ordered Boom Saddlebag speakers or my street Glide and I read that I have to have a Dealer Digital Technician Software update - do I have to bring it to the dealer and get charged or is it something I can do if I can obtain whatever the parts etc are???

all this entails is you bringing the bike to the dealer, they connect the DT to it, activate your fader on your radio.
You can check your left handlebar functions to see if the fader shows up on your radio now. If so, you don't need to be bring to the dealer.
