I called to order the rockbox from cyclesounds back in the beginning of April and was told that they were not available due to them making some "improvements" to the first batch that were sold. Well I finally received it on Thursday, I installed it according to the instructions and turned it on, it would only receive one radio station (I am in the DC metro area so this is highly irregular), I called and spoke to someone who told me to cut the wiring harness open and expose the antenna. Doing this would void the warranty and any return I might need to make so that option was out. I plugged my Ipod into the USB port and again nothing, I called back again and was told that due to the "improvements" made to the firmware that it no longer supported apple devices. Then they said that I could use a 3.5mm plug and use the aux jack to connect the Ipod and just use the USB for charging. I already have a 12v accessory port for that, and I connect the Ipod directly to the speakers using a 3.5 so I didn't see the point in a $300.00 charger that I didn't need. I called and have returned it for a full refund (only positive experience with this whole transaction. Just wanted to make you all aware of the issue with the Ipod and the rockbox. I ended up going with the zumo 665 with built in XM much better however much more costly.
Yeah Ed and Bill need to get their chit together over there... I had problems with them in obtaining my painted saddlebag lids and when I finally did receive them they were screwed up (lots of trash in paint, dry areas where clearcoat wasn't even applied, runs in paint) beyond the point of even trying to put them on the bike. Called them up, was told they had another pair in the warehouse that needed to be buffed out and they would overnight them to me. So I get the new ones in, only to realize they sent me 2 left saddlebag lid speaker grills. Called and emailed Ed only for him to get crappy with me on the phone like I was bothering him. Finally received the correct speaker grill 3 days later after I was told it would be overnighted to me (no weekends involved). Then go to install them, the rubber weatherstripping for one bag was about 1-1/4" short from making a complete seal, the other was about 3/4" short. Had to throw that away and go to HD and purchase another set of seals to fit. Go to put them on only to find out that the thickness of the lid where there latch goes was too thick and the stock screws didn't go far enough in to grab the metal plate inside the lid to secure the latch. Again, had to stop what I was doing, go to Lowes and purchase 7mm (stock is 5mm) length stainless screws. From beginning to end (end being able to install them) was about 6 weeks and they still were not what I would EVER consider buying from CS again. Paint had runs in it, imperfections in the paint, etc (which I paid a local painter to correct). Emailed Ed a final (constructive criticism) time telling him the entire story from beginning to end and how dissapointed I was in this transaction after all the recommendations I've given to his company over the years and his response to me was "well you don't seem like the type of customer we will ever be able to make happy so send it all back and we'll refund you less the cost of having them painted and shipping". Keep in mind that I provided them FEDEX labels for everything to get it quicker so shipping was on my dime throughout the entire transaction. That's the kind of customer service that will inevitably get around by word of mouth so I'm real surprised he took this approach with me. I didn't want anything from him other than him to acknowledge that you don't treat customers this way and for him to go off the way he did; I'll pass on ever ordering anything else from them.

A once happy CS customer lost to an attitude.
The sad thing is they make one hell of a set of handlebar mounted speakers... I couldn't be happier with my series 3 speakers and amp
I've been waiting to read about your saddlebag speakers, but wow, looks like I won't be ordering anything from them! Wazzup with poor customer service, don't these companies know about the internet?
I guess I should add that the product itself is not a bad product. Overpriced? They run about the same as others. If you order unpainted and have it done locally by someone you trust then you should be ok. The seals, 2 left grills, and screws for latches; well it could have very well been a one-off or something who knows but this is about QC and there apparently is none at CS. My issue simply comes from the way I was treated by Ed himself in being a total *** to me about it is exactly why I will never deal with them again for anything.
