this has no direct bearing on any manufacturer. Simply stating that upgrading a 5.25" speaker to another 5.25" speaker is no upgrade at all. Do yourself (and your ears) a favor and upgrade to 6.5" speakers. You'll be glad you spent the extra $30.
Don't forget the polyfil regardless which way you go...
no sir I don't. the foam and polyfil do 2 totally different things altogether.
Take a piece of layered polyfil about 12x12 and wrap each speaker in the fairing tightly then put your fairing cap back on. No need to secure the polyfil, the batwing fairing will hold it perfectly in place. If you're on a RG, then you will need to secure the polyfil with zip ties..
Ok. thanks for the info. I have a Electra Glide Classic so that shouldn't be a problem. Would my stock head unit be sufficient to run the ever so popular Polk mm651's and a hog pod?
you'll be much happier with a set of Polk MM651 in the fairing and a Soundstream PN2.350D (check amazon for the amp and speakers). DO NOT buy the UM version of the speakers because the grills do not come off.
you'll also need a set of 6.5" adapter rings for the fairing.
