Default Pbr 300x2 problems?

Morning,
I have a stock HU with a RF PBR amp and the 6.5 polks everyone is using.
Coming back from Myrtle Beach I started to get a crackling in the right speaker, I pulled the batwing and checked the connections and they looked fine. I even ran the stereo at 3/4 vol. and moved and shook the wires with no problems or crackling.
Then I ran the bike with the stereo off and noticed when I hit the front brake sometimes I could hear a slight popping in the same speaker. Other times with the acc. on and radio playing I'll get the crackling. I had the HU shipped out to Iron Cross before Myrtle Beach because of an internal issue with the sound cutting out, so now I'm wondering if its the amp.
Has anyone else ever experienced this problem?

Thanks.

I had the same problem but I am using a Sony HU. What happened was I changed out the radio and the had the remote wire hooked up to the socket from the headlight and just dangling taped off on the other end near the amp. For some reason it was causing some sort of interference and the speakers would pop and crackle while riding or when I turn the steering to one end to a dead lock position. I changed out the HU and now am using the remote wire and problem solved. It could be also a grounding issue. Just be patient and go through all your wiring. Jiggle and move everything including connections around.

Have you swapped speakers side to side to see if the problem moves with the speaker or it stays on the right side?

+1 with swapping the wires or speaker.

When I installed my polks 2 weeks ago, I had this noise, and re-crimped all my wires the problem was still there. I moved swapped the wires from my speakers and realized I had a bad speaker.

Installed a new one last week and it sounds great.

Well it was the amp. Just got back from a Vermont / Adirondack trip and yesterday the system stopped working. I hit a bump and the sound went out but the HU still seemed to work. Disconnected the amp and ran stereo and speakers with no problems, static or crackling. Sucks cause the amp is just over a year old. If RF doesn't stand behind their product I'll be looking for a unit.

Any suggestions?

The Soundstream PN2.350D is supposed to be a great amp. It's 175wx2 at 2 ohms, but will more than likely cause FM issues if mounted in the fairing. There is a fix for this issue however.

Several forum members have had success looping the power/ground wires around ferrite cores. Forum member Gone Riding came up with the idea, maybe PM him and he could explain it better if you have questions. There are several threads in this section about it and only class D amps have this issue.

Is this unique to the sound stream amp or do the RF's do it too?
