Default Biketronics system help....

Hey fellas,

About a month ago I installed Biketronics 7.1" speakers and BT480 amp package in my 2011 Street Glide. I also installed the HD fm antenna in my fairing at the same time. sucks btw.

Everything was great until today. After about 100 miles, I came to a stop at a red light and heard popping/crackiling coming from one of the speakers. Once I got home I investigated a little further. The noise is coming from both speakers, but I can still play at high volume and drown out the noise.

At first I thought a blew a speaker, but isn't it a bit unlikely both blew? Or is it an amp issue?

I have the amp grounded to the frame, and checked it but it is secured fine.

Any ideas?

That's the same problem I had. It turned out to be the plug in the back of the radio. What radio are you running.

Stock HK radio. I read your thread, and figured I'm going to have to pull the fairing off and check all the connections. It doesn't make sense to me, and I've grounded it a few diff ways, but noise is still there.

I guess there may be something loose in there.

Yes, you ned to literally check everything. Jiggle things around and pull in harnesses and wires. I did it with the ignition on then with the acc. on. It's time consuming but you will find it. Good luck.

I had the same problem also. I installed a Biketronics amp and changed the speakers in the fairing and the lowers. Worked fine until I changed the handlebars recently. I took it for a ride and after about 10 minutes, I had cracking in the left front speakers and the left saddlebag speaker quit working. I checked all the connections and they looked good. I later checked the large plug to the head unit from both sides. I counted the wires going into it and saw one less socket when I looked at it from the head unit side. Apparently when I plugged that socket back in after removing the head unit to change the bars, one of the sockets got pushed back when I plugged it back in. Pushed that wire back in until it locked and now, so far so good.
