head unit selection
Hey gents,
I need to pick at your brains. I am needing another head unit for my Heritage. The bike has a Woody's fairing with four Polk mm 5.25s with a Precision Power 350.2 running currently off a 3 year old Pioneer hu (sorry I can not be more precise as I can not remember the model number but it was in the $150 price range 3 yrs ago).
I am unsatisfied with my current hu because the faceplate is loosing connectivity with the radio which causes cd's to skip and the front USB to restart on every little bump nowadays.
I was curious if there are any decent single dins with fixed faces? Meaning non removable, non folding? I have yet to find one. The fairing has a decent amount of flex that I have no control over which wears out the plastic latches for the faceplate. The chassis of the unit is secured as secure as can be.
When working properly I like to just plug in my usb thumb drive and ride. So possibly a rear usb could be a solution as it wouldn't necessarily loose connection on the bumps?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

your best bet would be call crutchfield. they have one of the largest selections available and pick their brains. doesn't mean you have to buy there (i find they're way over=priced) but at least you can get some info on the topic at hand.
