Default Radio finally

So I am finally fitting the Sony, I have the head unit in the fairing, found the fairing bracket was broken at the top so made an l-plate out of thicker gauge aluminum to fix that while I was on, also fixed an intermittent fault with the rev counter, no amp at the moment but went for Hertz DCX 165.3 speakers with CC adapter rings, Metra steering wheel controller with mods to suit handlebar controls, will be wiring it all today, the speakers have enough sensitivity so they should run from the head unit but will still be ok with an amp later as the will handle 60w RMS each, decided to avoid the Polks given the current issues. Will not be using wadding initially as I need to see how everything fits. I have nothing to compare the sound to as there was no radio in there when I bought the bike a year and half ago.

It sounds good already and the fairing is off at the moment.

1.) you'll want the polyfil in there.
2.) those DCX-165.3 will handle a lot more than 60w RMS
3.) would you mind elaborating on the "mods" to suit handlebar controls.

I made the ASWC-1 from Axxess work with the handlebar controls so I now have volume up/down source select, track change etc.. all from the bars as per factory but with the Sony radio, it required the addition of a resistor and some changes on the connections from the bars, the radio multiplug is now gone, everything is soldered in and heatshrink wrapped, sounds good but no polyfill yet, speakers sound like they are over driving at high volume but that may be fixed with polyfill, not impressed with only having three mounting points on the 6.5" adapter rings to the fairing inner, may explore an alternative with four points if there is one. But at the moment is sounds great and no amp.

The reason there are only three screws for the speaker adapters is there's nowhere for a fourth screw to go except straight through your inner faring. They are designed that way and are more than sufficient to support a 6.5" speaker. No worries!!

Ok, well radio and CD are great but I found my iPod lead will not allow the ipod to connect to anything, fine for charging but no music so will need a new lead, I can connect my phone by usb but will need to move the music files into the sd card as that is where the radio expects to find them, will be interesting to see what difference polyfil makes.
