My stock rear amp went bad and I thought that this would be a good time to upgrade rear sound. I will replace the saddlebag speakers, but haven't decided what I want to replace the stock ones with. The real question for me is what to do with the amp. The rear amp is in the left bag. Looking at the wiring diagram, it really doesn't do anything but run the rear speakers. If I put an aftermarket amp in the left bag, can I use the power and ground wires for the stock amp on the aftermarket. The reason that I ask is that the wires look to be a lighter gauge than what I have usually seen for the power wire for aftermarket amps. Thanks.

unless you put some 5x7 speaker in there you're pretty limited on CVO bag lids. Check out the Biketronics BT479 kit. A little pricey but if you put a good amp behind them you'll end up with a good setup.
I don't think the stock wiring on this amp is of any significance in size so I doubt you'll be able to use the use the power and ground wires unless you put something like the alpine KTP445U amp back there.

Thanks UltraNutZ. You've helped me out more than once. I'm going to take a look at BT since I have their 2180 amp in the fairing and their speakers in the fairing and lowers. Pretty pleased with it.
