I am looking to upgrade the sound on my 2012 Ultra. I don't want to spend a ton of cash on a new sound system, nor do I want to lose storage space with additional amps, etc in my bags. Are there speakers available that would fit in the stock locations that would help me out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
being a 2 ohm head unit you'll need to stick with speakers that are 2 ohm to get any sort of volume from them without the need to add an amp.
There are a couple that come to mind.
Polk MM651 - these come with 3" x 3" crossovers that will need to be mounted somewhere.
Infinity 6032si - good sounding speaker for the money.
also in the fairing take some thin layered polyfil and wrap a couple of layers around each speaker before you close up the fairing. For the rear pods, ONLY line the inside of the pod with a single layer. This will help tighten up the sloppy bass response in these openings.
