While riding to work yesterday morning something pretty obvious had hit me on my knee, thought it was road debris. I am running lower fairings and fork air deflectors so 10 minutes later I figured out what it was, my rain cover.
I ride with the rain cover mounted and usually keep it on 100% of the time. Does someone have a better way to secure it or a better solution? Glad I didnt lose a $100 rain cover but throwing $20 away sucks nonetheless...
If you don't ever use the face controls then I would just use the double sided sticky it comes with and leave it. That's what I did when I had one. I just kept the remote in my windshield pouch if I needed to change a setting. Otherwise you could spray some clear coat on the edge and build it up a little to make it press fit tighter. I've seen guys do that as well.
I just got my radio install kit from V-twin audio and I'm impressed with their rain cover. The gasket material they use to keep water out also keeps it in place pretty snug.
Looks great against my painted inner fairing too. Glad I went with this kit.

I do like that rain cover much better as it seems to be a more quality piece however, been using BT rain covers since 05 and never had one pop out of place. There are a couple of things to pay attention to
make sure when you install your head unit that it's situated down far enough to allow the BT cover to slide in completely
make sure it's all the way in. When I slide the rain shield in all the way, no way no how that's coming off. Hell it's hard enough to take it off myself.
no way I'd use the BT rain shield on a roadie. Just too flimpsy and that mounting is for the pits. sure to come off. If I owned a roadie, the V-twin cover although expensive would be the choice.
On the Biketronics install kit, is the headunit centered on the plate and do you have equal gaps top and bottom? I have a larger gap on the bottom then at the top, possibly keeping the raincover from sitting down all the way in the recess?
