Handlebar controls
I have a Kenwood KDCBT855U and I was wondering if anyone makes the interface to make the handlebar radio controls on my 05 Ultra Classic usable other than Hawg Wired?
- Biketronics BT1005 as acchd pointed out - only device that will retain AVC (automatic volume control)
- Hawg-wired - HUA360
- PAC - SWI-RC - requires some wiring but a lot cheaper than the others
I highly recommend any of them as they all do the same thing equally well with differences.
Biketronics - great product, retains avc and plug-n-play - $219 on Amazon
hawg-wired - great product and plug-n-play - $149
pac - great product, not plug-n-play - $27.99 at Amazon

Reviving an old thread to see if anything has changed in the last 3+ years.
Biketronics is still the only one that does AVC?
I was looking between BT and HW and HW was cheaper so I was trying to decide if there is a reason to sepnd more on BT.
Is the only reason AVC? BT is still the only one that does that?
I love AVC but was iffy on using it wondering if it can cause speakers to get over powered. Thought I read AVC could get you in trouble with after market systems?

The replacement for thet BT1005 is BT1005X which you can order with mute function vs AVC. I think I might get better use of mute function over AVC. Hawg Wired is good controller and if didn't want AVC or mute I'd get it if it's cheaper.
I have the I Datalink ADS-SW-HD1. This does not have AVC but has a nice mute button and does everything I could want. The problem is after a while it starts losing functions. Crutchfield sent me a new one. However, since I had it all wired up I retained the old wiring harness. I believe that may have been a mistake. Possibly the harness/wires are bad. When I unplug and plug it back in it generally works again, but only for a while. The Mute and Volume always seem to work so I have put up with it. I wish I could recommend this unit, but I may be replacing it. Does the Hawg Wired have mute? Control cd, tuning etc? I may give it a try.
