Default newbie head unit questions

So I have my speakers and amp lined out and now im wondering about head units. my first question is about getting a aftermarket head unit adapter to plug the head unit in without splicing. I know everyone uses them and I did see that biketronics has them but I was stickershocked when I looked them up, any cheaper plug adapters out there? Looks like with the biketronics it adapts the new radio and also keeps the hand controls functioning,so it looks like that is all I would need? Are there certain head units that are working better than others?

Biketronics & Hawg Wired most popular. The Biketronics has AVC if that's important to you. Normally the Sonys HU's have best support for the functions.

I have the sony gt-660 and radio retro kit from biketronics....I am very happy with it, and it retains all factory functions and its plug and play.

Yep if get Biketronics make sure get BT-1005 it covers all those models. The Hawg Wired is HUA360. Both sale a complete kit with HU mounting hardware faceplate & module.

Sony head units are more compatible with both the HW and BT adapters as this brand is what they were designed around. However most other brands work perfectly fine as well. As long as you have a remote steering wheel input on the back of the head unit you'll be fine.
