Okay, if cost was not a consideration, which one would you go with and why? Any downsides to either setup? Any FM radio issues with either setup?

Choice 1:
2 PBR300x2
4 Polk audio mm651
Arc 6.5 adapters
Hogtunes Amp bracket

Choice 2:
BikeTronics Ultimate Amp and Speaker Combo With Pods

Both Options
BT Hidden Antenna

I know the downside of the OEM h/u but still plan on keeping it.

No FM issues with either setup.

I went with option 2. Only regret is I didn't do it the first time.

I just ordered all the parts for Option 1.. be interesting to see how others answer.. My consideration was "bang for the buck" and wanted to keep FM. From what Pioneer74 states, either of these would have worked...

One item that I have some concern over is the "mixed' reviews on overall quality of the Polks.. but I'm taking the risk

Best of luck on decision and keep us posted.

Another option... I had J&M on my RoadGlide and was very happy with it:

It was just out of my financial reach for this install

If cost is no object the BT setup is the way to go, easier to install and a 1 stop shopping solution. I doubt that most would be able to hear a dramatic difference in sound quality between the 2 setups, so if you have the cash might as well do the BT.

Great point! I purchased the "Opt 1" setup for $670 (searching online for the cheapest prices).. Cheapest I found Opt 2 is $799. J&M option is also about $799. I believe Opt 2 & J&M are both more "plug and play" (answering from my own questions and research more than experience).. I didn't give a $ figure for "ease of install, but if one were doing so, it evens out the playing field a bit more

Here is another option to consider...

1. JL Audio XD400/4
2. 2 pair Pioneer D6209
3. 1 Pair MM651
4. 1 Pair JM rokker tweeters (replace guages).

This is what I am adding to my bike right now. Some as a result of members of this forum (thanks UN and GP), and the others a result of listening to other bikes. Im no fan of the Rockford amps because here in Atlanta, the heat seems to fry them in the Road Glide fairings (they probably do better in batwings). All told, I have spent about $650 on the stuff mentioned above. All total, I have about $1100 in stereo stuff, all running from the stock HK radio. Two amps, 10 speakers, and a whole lot of happiness is in my future!
