Installed a Kenwood HU, A Rockford PBR 300/2,a set of Polk dxi 5.25 for the lowers and.... a pair of alpine sps-610 for the fairing (marked down in price) on what I will call an "impulse" buy. I am in NO WAY "bashing" alpine, however, these speakers are no longer "fitting the bill" I will say. Probably a decent speaker for the price....but, I guess its time to move on and improve. I am looking at a set of Focals IC-165 I believe, as well as Rockford power t-165, then I stumble upon infinity at best buy "primus series"...all around my price range with the rockfords the most $$$. My gain on the amp is set at halfway so I don't think that's is the problem...maybe the alpines are tired. Maybe its me . Any suggestions are appreciated!! thanks in advance!!
Keep in mind that you are only supplying 75 watts of power per speaker, since they are wired in parallel. Some speakers don't 'wake up' with only 75 watts.
The sensitivity on the Alpines is kinda low, so they need even more POWER to wake up.
They aren't a 'bad' speaker , if powered up enough.
Unless you go K series on the Focal, I wouldn't bother. They are big bucks.
Not impressed with the RF components you listed. At 75 watts , you'll hate those too.
These new ROKKER XX speakers are not cheap, but you will be hard pressed to burn them out, even with the RF 300w or ROKKER XTP amp ,,,,, AND good sensitivity numbers for plenty of volume available on the highway http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....=HCRK-7252-RXX ,,,,,,

Thanks for the replies! Glacier, you are correct. I guess sometimes things are right in front of you and it takes another person to point it out. I guess I could remove the speakers in the lowers and have the PBR concentrate on just powering the Alpines in the fairing. Maybe I will try that. John, those speakers are probably great but also a bit out of my price range for now. Thanks again!!
