Default "Just Curious"

How would an ss pn4.1000d sound matched with 2 sets of
1. Kenwood Ksc674. 2. Jbl p662
3.DD audio csx 6.5"s in the upper and lower fairings
Also with a set of tweeters in place of the fairing mirrors on a flhx, I've read and received great advice but my problem is I keep logging in and reading about all of the different combinations before I actually pull the trigger any help would be as always greatly appreciated. Oh by the way what's a decent set of tweeters that will compliment this setup? My HU will be a Kenwood excelon 998 Thanks

Dewayne-

The soundstream PN4.1000D is a very powerful amp at 2 ohms or 4 ohms. That said. You want speakers that are going to match the intensity of the amp. Firstly I don't think that's a good model number for the Kenwood speakers you speak of. I think you meant the Kicker KSC674 speakers. The only JBL speakers you want on your ride are 6x9's. The 6.5's are not very good speakers. Guys use the DD's for competition builds due to their high sensitivity. In other words they get very loud with very little power.

If you ride your bike the only speakers I would suggest on your list is the Kicker KSC674's. And I would only suggest those if you had rear pods.

Do it right the first time Dewayne. Get yourself a set of Biketronics 7.1's for the fairing speakers and a set of Moto 602's for the lowers. Both of those speakers hit hard with the soundstream amp. Throw a set of infinity 693.11's in the saddle bags and call it a day.

Run the 7.1's and the Moto's in parallel off the front channel and the infinity's alone off the back channel. With and aftermarket HU such as the Sony MEX-M70BT you'll blow most of your friends set ups away. (Unless of course they are in competitions). Forget about the speakers on your list. They won't make you happy.

I went with the Jbl p662 when I upgraded my stereo. I do not recommend them. I will be changing them out over the winter.

I would only add tweeters if you were using mid range drivers and needed them otherwise use that money to get better speakers. The 998 is an awesome radio, I've tried a few and it's the best one that has been in my bike.

Listen to Gannicus and splurge on some good speakers. If you're on a budget the BT 6.5's are on sale and with the forum discount you get 10% more off. Lifetime warranty is tough to beat and they sound great.

Just Curious Gannicus why you would suggest running the 7.1's and the 602's in parallel? I know they're both 4ohm and you "can" run them this way, but with different sensitivity levels I'm thinking the 7.1's would almost completely drown out the 602's. What am I missing?

Very true. But what I found is it's not that much of a sound difference. The 7.1's are going to drown out any speaker you install in the lowers including the titan II's. The combination of the 7.1's with the Bass of the Moto's is awesome with the soundstream PN4.1000D. Of course when I had that set up I had the PRO's but the pros have the same sensitivity level as the regular 7.1's.

I know it defies conventional wisdom but you would almost have to hear it. That said. For all intents and purposes you are absolutely correct! Not missing anything bro! Hook it up one time and you'll hear what I'm saying . . lol

As always it's just my opinion from fooling with this stuff everyday. If the OP doesn't trust my opinion he can always go Titan II's as Haze suggested. Either way he's going to be better off than the speakers he listed. Good catch Bates!

Not questioning your wisdom at all brother. I haven't had an opportunity to hear the 602's so I'll take your word as gold. I know you wouldn't want to try this with lower end speakers. The results would be way less desirable.

This forum is great and I've heard you all loud and clear and trust me I get it and I'm not gonna try to re-invent the wheel but after reading so much content on here it gets confusing especially when your looking for the best bang for your buck type of build..... I've looked at your suggestions Gannicus and if it wouldn't break the bank I'd be all over it, so my question is are there other alternatives to a great sound system in the budget of say $125 a set? Also I heard the American bass sq6.5 setup on here and it did sound very clear and crispy does it basically come down to those or a set of kappas 62.11i in the lowers and fairing?
And your right I meant Kicker Ksc 674 my mind has been all over the place with this audio upgrade

Dewayne if your trying to do this on a budget I'd suggest the Kappas. Paired with the SS pn4.1000 the will make your ears bleed. After a short break in period these speakers really shine.
