Agreed. The Kappas get louder than the AB's. The AB have a fuller sound but really they are for a budget build. The bike in that thread sounds good because it has 8 speakers on it!! AND a Kenwood HU. At 125.00 get Kappas.

I still say consider the Titan II. They're 179.00 - 10% off = 152.00. That's a steal for a lifetime warranty speaker and only a few bucks more. I think they have a better sound to them.

Also the 998 I think is overkill for a budget build especially if you don't have different front and rear speakers (6x9) and need separate cross overs. Get a cheaper radio and use the money for better speakers.

Agreed. Or take a look at Haze's "My $500 system will eat your lunch" post. On a budget I don't think it gets any better than his posted system. Trust me HAZE did his homework with that system. Unbelievable for the price.

Edit: Looks like we posted at the same time Haze.

You know that bike gets picked up today. I just tuned everything and left a CD in the radio so the guy flips when he turns it on! Lol

This is the one I use. It's came down almost $100 since I bought mine. This is one of Gann's favorites too.
No CD player though so this may not be what your looking for.

That Sony would be great. Check out Sonicelectonics they had it on sale last week.

And to clarify about the 998. It's an awesome radio but what really majes it shine is that you can assign speaker sizes to locations, ie front 6.5's rear 6x9, it also has different front and rear cross overs so you can run active crossovers. This is fantastic if you had different speakers on your bike, but with the same two 6.5's in the front your not going to use the great features on that radio. Get a 4v preamp radio that has an HPF setting of 80hz or lower with slope or db settings and you'll be set. The 310 has all that.

This is the set up that I have. Kappa 62.11's in upper and lower fairing matched to the SS PN4.1000D along with a Sony 310BTX HU. This thing is loud and has decent bass. Everyone comments on it. All thanks to Haze and Gannicus.

Kappa's $104 a set, SS amp $145, Head unit about $140. Add Metra bracket and ASWC-1 for another $60 or so to keep the handlebar controls. Don't forget the polyfil.
