Its been said before, but this is a great product. Installed over the weekend with the saddlebag extension kit and it works great. No volume drop like I read was reported with the HD Ipod kit. Controls well.
Used the $60~ish dollar HD Ipod tether in the saddle bag and drilled the hole as guided by the .pdf I found in another thread here: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-2011-rgc.html
Good product, good company, inspired me to drop a few extra bills on a plug and play speaker/amp setup.
Recommended to anyone considering adding their Ipod.
Do you have to disconnect the ipod inside the saddlebag or outside the bag? I was wondering how this works when cleaning.
I had the same question before purchase. The Iron Cross kit keeps the saddlebag extension connectors inside the saddlebag. The grommet comes preinstalled on the long cable used to extend from the module to the saddlebag. Their justification with this was it keeps the connector out of the elements.
It works just fine for me. You can slip the grommet and pull the saddlebag when you need to take it off. Its no more of a process than removing the small bolts I now use to hold on my bags to keep thieves a little more deterred from stealing them.
