Well, im done playing around with amp and speaker combos. I have went thru multiple pairs of speakers and finally found the ones that I like and what do you know it...the damn rokker amp burns up! Bummer!!! So, I go to the soundstream and it kills my fm reception on my radio (which is aftermarket). Been searching around and wanted to do 2 pbr amps, one x2 for the 2 ohm infinity 62.11i, and one x4 to power the four pioneer 6x9s in the bag.
Well, after talking to about 6 or 7 local audio shops (all over atlanta because it's weird that all of the shops on one side of town will use one setup, but go to another side of town and they use something completely different) and what was the common theme? The JL XD400/4. Apparently it puts out a whole hell of a lot more than what it is rated at and is super efficient. Its a little bigger and a lot heavier, but from every shop I spoke with, these are the only amps that have not had at least ONE problem. There have been problems with the PBR and a few other amps here locally, especially with the heat. Plus, I was advised that since I am running the rear speakers in parallel, the JL would be the best bet.
So, I have the correct speaker combo for my taste...Infinity 62.11i in front fairing, rokker tweeters in place of 2 gauges, and two TS-D6902r in each bag. Now hopefully this amp is all that is is cracked up to be. We shall see tonight...

Esahaw. . .Just from my own personal experience. . . That X4 WILL NOT even come close to powering the Pioneers!! You might as well bite the bullet and go after the Biketronics 4180 to power the Pioneers and call it a day. Hell, you have already spent enough money to buy one.

I agree with this. Shame John into replacing your amp and sell it. Use the funds to get the 4180. It puts out 230 watts a channel at 2 ohms. Have the Pioneers in parallel on the rear channel and put 180 watts to the Infinity's and see if they can hang with the big boys.

Love that Idea!! Now that's what I'm talking about!

Dont know about "shaming" john, but I was thinking last night about contacting him to see if he can do something.

Too late...I already got the xd400/4. As far as powering them pioneers, they are currently wired in parallel on a 125 watt @ 2 ohm channel. It broke down to about 60 watts per channel based on what John told me and that had them things bumping HARD!! I honestly believe that I can get good quality bass from the xd400/4, instead of the constant beating. It's so bad that the right saddlebag hinge rattles like hell. I tried adjusting the tabs like mentioned in another thread and that didnt help at all. We'll see what happens tonight when I finally get it all hooked up.
