With all the problems with the 651's, I don't know how the hell you can tell people to waste their money and stick with them. I had a total of 2 speakers, both went bad at the same time. And if you read this site much, there's a hell of a lot more than a few that went bad.

I had a few by myself.

Infinity kappa 62.11i. Almost same price as polk, true 2 ohm (not 2.7 like polks), sound excellent with pbr300x2. Check em out.

They will. I installed mine last week with a pbr300x2 amp pushing them and they sound awesome at any volume and any speed. You'll love em.

just remember you're pushing 150 w per channel into speakers that are only rated at 75w rms...while you're Polks I believe are rated at 100w rms...no need to melt down another set, if you know what I mean... :-)

I also believe there is a design issue with the mm651s. My expirience with them was no different than a lot of other peoples. It not just by random chance that both speakers melted down and failed at the same time. I was on a 12hr ride in sunny Florida, jamming tunes and loving life. I though they were a great sounding speaker and for the money great buy. Waterproof to boot!! But when both speakers play music and sound great in the process they should not be slowly heating up and dieing silently. There was no warning that the speakers were being pushed past there capability as the were melting down into useless paper weights. I'm running the soundstream 4.520d so maybe with slightly less power or shorter ride durations they would survive. It's possible that from bar to bar if your the kinda guy that stays local and don't ride full tanks of fuel back to back that maybe they wouldn't have time to heat up and meat down? I will say thAt Polk replaced the speakers with no questions asked but then again I'm sure it wasn't the first time they had seen a set of mm651s with the tweeter melted out of the center of them like a limp d@&k.

Still wont touch the 225w peak that the 62.11i is rated at. They will be perfectly fine with the PBR amp. No issues at all from mine...actually, the only issue is that I cant turn them up loud enough. These speakers seem to be able to take as much as I can throw at them from the PBR.

Well let's put it this way. I now have a set of mm651's in the upper fairing. I will post back with results if I blow them of if they melt.

This is not my first rodeo with the Polk mm651. I have had 2 other bikes running the Polk mm651 and never had in issue in well over 75,000 miles with the mm651 or any other mm series speaker with the exception on the one single mm6501.

I am not trying to argue the fact that polk apparently had some quality issues with a few batches. This is obviously true.
But every company goes thru something like this and after the problem is fixed, it's back to the great quality it was before.

Everyone in this forum still drives or rides Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Harley, Honda, Toyota, ect, ect. Right?
Every one of those companies had quality issues at some point on a scale much larger than Polk.

But Yet we still love em and still buy em right? Same with Polk, don't kick it to the curb just because of a few bad experiences with them.
