im a total newbie when it comes to audio, but since i just bought my 14 sg standard the audio bug bit.
i bought a ss 520 amp since it got good reviews here on the forum and a set of hertz hcx 165 6.5" 2 way speakers.
i searched this and couldnt find any answers.should i bridge the speakers or just hook them up to the front channel.the radio is the 4.3 and does this radio require the download like the 6.5. i read the all 35 pages of the thread and do not remember seeing this mentioned for this hu.
If you buy a 4 channel amp to run 2 speakers you bridge the amp, if you buy a 2 channel amp you just run it straight for 2 speaker.
If you have 4 speakers and the amp is 2 channel you can run speakers in parallel which will cut the ohm load in half (increased power output) but you lose fader and need to ensure the amp can handle the higher ohm load ( 2 ohms higher load then 4 ohms)
If you only plan on using that amp for two speakers, you would have been better off getting the 2.350. I think if you bridge that amp you might overpower the speakers.
I would not bridge this amp.. Bad things happen to speakers when this amp gets bridged. The amp has plenty of power to run 2 hertz speakers on either the front or rear channel and will leave room for expansion later on. IF you think the audio bug bit, it only gets worse. :-)
i hooked up amp and everything went well. did not bridge the speakers, and it sounds great.thanks for the help and advice. except for the radio lol. i did buy the ferrites just waiting for them to come and i will install

Good luck. Tried the ferrite cores with my SS and it didn't help.
I installed the PPI version of this amp and didn't lose any FM stations. Did I just luck out or is the PPI somehow better shielded than the Soundstream?

I think you got lucky bud.. :-)
I've put in a couple of the PPI version waiting on the SS version to be released and FM was gone.
