so the consensus is the BT 4180 will put out more power than my JL 600 4 with 8 speakers less the adjustable gains and other settings I cant adjust and will be as clean sounding

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm simply suggesting that you should try your speaker setup with the amp you have first. If you're not satisfied with it, then maybe make a phone call to order with the understanding that if it doesn't live up to expectations that you can return it.

With 8 speakers, you are only pushing 75 watts per speaker with the JL 600/4........so I'd add another JL 600/4 , and give everyone their own channel !!

PROBLEM SOLVED !!

I'll chime in on this one...i'm using a JL audio amp right now (xd400/4) and there is no way in hell that this amp is putting out 75 watts per channel @ 4 ohms like what is advertised...at least not by my sound standards. The JM Rokker amp (arc audio KS 125.4) put out 75 watts per channel at 4 ohm and they had the Pioneers in my bags thumping and rattling the latch. Not even possible with the JL audio amp that I am running now. I say you go with the SS TN4.900D or the BT4180.

I had the TN4.900D installed on my bike but it took away my FM reception. Instead of me just finding somewhere else to mount it, I sent the damn thing back. Guess what i'm doing this weekend...probably gonna be installing two of those now and selling the JL audio. That SS made those pioneers wanna jump out the bags (at least thats what it sounded like) and will be pushing the max wattage allowed to my kappas (225w). It boiled down to a cost issue for me. I want the BT4180 but I can get two SS amps for less than ONE 4180. I would give those a try first unless you are just hell bent on the 4180. But the JL audio?? Yeah its super efficient, but it in no way puts out what it is rated for...at least not by my experience.

I have the BT4180 installed to 4 speakers and there is way more power here than I need. I find myself turning it down at 75mph.

Cheers,
Chris

Well I wish I was here a long time ago because I surely wouldve listened. But of course, I took the advice of the local radio shop that does tons of Harleys, and of course, I was and still am disappointed. Shouldve known they were full of crap when they told me that Pioneer recommends that all of their speakers be removed from bikes. Of course he only told me that AFTER I told him I was running the TS-Ds in my bags...and of course he tried to push a $300 pair of JL 6x9s on me after telling me that information...information that he has still yet to prove...

see post #6 above. emphasis on the word skeptical especially coming from an installer that sells a certain product that you ironically enough don't have. :-)
