Default Stereo cutting out

I have a 07 ultra classic w/stock radio and amp. Suddenly the stereo cuts out every 2 minutes but if I flip the dash rocker switch from one to another setting it turns back on for another 2 minutes or so. Has anybody experienced this before? Previous owner had amp relocated to saddlebag from tourpak, thinking that it's over heating? except for the fact that it just started after 3000 miles of riding in this hot Ca weather...Bebaffled??

I doubt the amp is overheating unless it's being overdriven by speaker load

Also since your rocker switch allows the sound to come right back on, I would highly suspect that being your failure point especially since that is not an uncommon issue. I understand what it's purpose is but still IMO aside from having rear controls for passenger to jack with radio, I think the speaker selector switch is one of the stupidest ideas HD has come up with.

danl, I just thought about something.

There is a known issue with the vertical fairing brackets and horizontal fairing brackets rubbing through the main wiring harness inside the fairing. Might want to pop the fairing cap off and take a look-see.

Look for broken fairing brackets and look for wiring harnesses that go around sharp edges to make sure they didn't rub through and are shorting out.
