Default Adapter rings

I am looking to put 6" or 6.5" speakers in my fairing but there is not enough room for the adaptor plate and the bigger speakers on the in side. (I currently have 5.25"). Any one put adaptor plates and speaker on the out side of the fairing. I know I would have to make some sort of filler or build my own adaptor plates so they are smoother for a better looking fit.

There is plenty of room for 6.5" I just put in a set of rockford fosgate 6.75" with the metra adapter rings I got off ebay for $12. Metra part number 82-9600 for 6" to 6.5"or 82-9601 for 6.5" to 6.75"

I have a aftermarket on my 98 King (wide open custom). The real problem is the fact that the fairing does not come apart. It is sealed together. It is a very nice fairing other than the fact it is hard to install or reach any thing that needs to go inside of it. Also the spot that the bigger speakers would go is not very wide on the inside so exterior mounting would be best.

The first picture shows how much depth I have out in the wings where the speakers are. (about 4").

The second pic shows how the speakers sit side by side. I am thinking that I could fit some 6.5s in the inside spots if I build the adapter rings to the out side.

Third pick shows an overall view. This fairing is a quick detach.

You might want to look at some shallow mount 6.5" speakers. Here's a few you can look at. Look at the specs to see the top mount depth. This will give you an idea if any will work for you.

Yep I concur with Toofat look at some of shallow mounts. The Polk DXi651s look good spec wise and have 1 15/16" top mounting depth.
