I have been using Rumble Roads for a few years and would like to put a fairing on my Road King (2002). I am looking for any and all advice regarding a complete system (Reckless, eBay vendors, etc) or buying a bare fairing and installing my own system. My current thoughts are 6x9 speakers and Rockford PXM-2 as my starting point.
I've used about 8 reckless fairings in different configurations over the years and they have been great fairings.
It all Depends on what your wanting from the system.
What's your budget?
Don't buy the complete fairing kit. Get the fairing configuration your wanting and do your own component install. It will be cheaper in the long run and sound better than any kit could.
I bought a fairing from Wide Open. The fairing itself is good except it is a one piece and can not be opened to install speakers or amp. So everything must be done through the HU opening and only 5.25 speakers will work. Do your home work.
Thanks for the replies, what I am wanting is more volume and bass than the RR speakers provide, not trying to win a contest. My initial thought was to get a bare fairing and do my own install, Crutchfield is local enough and there is always Amazon. How critical is it to use marine grade components?
As for budget, I am assuming I can put it together for $1,000.00 is that naive?
