Hey ya'll. I know this has probably been beaten in to the ground a lot, but I have some specific questions about replacing my factory head unit.
I think I like the Pioneer MVH-X560BT. I read its shorter cause it dont have a CD player, which I dont need, or want. I use my iPhone. This has bluetooth, so thats what I would use.
Questions: What do I need to be able to use the control switch's on the handle bar? I think Hogtunes has a wiring harness, but not sure which one it is.
Anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks!!
I just replaced mine with the metra 99-9600 adapter for $30 and the axxcess aswc-1 steering wheel control interface for $50.
The instal was simple because it is prewired for the interface and other than the stereo wiring you only need to cut one wire in the harness.
NOTE: only BT100x will provide you with AVC. if you do not care about that, I would personally go with the above. In factm send me a PM if you are interested in the BT (1800 miles on it, bought 9 months ago or so) , as I might swap it for above. reason is I like to fiddle around with stuff and want to program a mute option on my controls (ASWC can do this AFAIK). Cool thing is I got PIONEER as well so no soldering as connector is on there (as long as you mail me yours LOL).
I got Power Vision and BikeTronics is still working with DynoJet on resolving an issue with the BT and PV1 combo...
I have a PV too. So the Biketronics interfears with the Harley interface or something?
And Im not dead set on gettting a Pioneer cause I want a head unit with teh USB port on the face. Its also got to be "stering wheel remote" capable. Any ideas on what would be a good unit for what Im looking for? Sorry for all the questions, but I'd like to get this done befroe going to Sturgis....maybe! Haha!

So wait a minute..... You can not use a power vision and a bt1005x? I'm currently using the bt 1005x and placed an order for a power vision yesterday. I hope this is not the case.

When using the gauge functions on the Power Vision it interferes with the hand control operations. It makes the volume and selection control slow to operate and the bass/treble/fade/balance couldn't be accessed at all. I didn't see much interference when I was auto tuning, the controls seemed to be OK, so it was mostly the gauges that messed with my BT1002. I suspect the BT1005 has the same issues.

RideDaddy - just PM'd you.
there is a thread here I started regarding Gauge PV mode issues with Volume Controls on the handlebar.
if you use the PV to tune and take it of the bike afterwards, no issues (with BT).
if you leave it on and running Gauge mode, you will find weird volume up/down button behavior (vol up sometimes acts as next song when USB; down volume jumping up and down in volume). PV on for example Trip screen, there is no issue at all.
temp fix for me was to pull the AVC pin ("data bus") from the BT connector. Now my AVC does not work (disabled).
BT and DynoJet still working on a resolution...

Why front USB.... I got 2 on the back, ran extensions to under my seat, can even grab them thru the sleeve in the seat if I wanted to change thumb drive...
cleaner IMO...
look at my sign. for radio I got.
